In Song, In Stone
The speculative world of prehistory, a thread Ive been picking at, curious and hopeful that the geologies and geographies on which I live and work are as sappy and nostalgic as I am.
In Song, In Stone is a film that brings the viewer into a place of intimacy with time, within the varied geographical locations of Switzerland, the UK and Armenia.
What appears at the outset as four independent stories, told by individual characters in different regions of the world, pulled from various literature related to the research, in hindsight is the beginning of a mnemonic put to form that sounds strangely familiar. Songs reverberating in layers of sediment too deep for words. Stones so close to the surface that just the smell of dirt after rain is enough to hear them say
“Enough with the models.
Enough with the metaphors.
I’m right here.
Pay attention to me.”
Enough with the metaphors.
I’m right here.
Pay attention to me.”
